My Park, My Story

My Park My Story logo

You love our parks and we want to tell YOUR stories!

Did you grow up near a park that was like your backyard? Did you propose or get married in a City park? Maybe you or your family have volunteered in parks. Whatever your story, we want to hear from you!

Baltimore is home to more than 260 parks and each is as unique as the many neighborhoods throughout the city. Share your unique story with us and you may be featured in this year's series. #MyParkMyStory

Established in 2016, My Park, My Story highlights and promotes the importance of urban parks through the eyes of its users. Now in its second year, the series will debut one video per week in July as part of the month-long celebration of National Park and Recreation Month.

FAQ:
Q: Do I need to choose a specific park?
A: Yes. Even if you use multiple parks (and we hope you do!) you have to choose one for your submission. The series will highlight personal stories about how one park impacted your life.

Q: Is there an age requirement?
A: Nope! Our parks are for everyone and so is this series. If you are a minor and your story is chosen, we will require an adult be present during the video shoot.

Q: When will winners be notified?
A: Winners will be notified by the first week of May via email.

Q: When will the video shoots take place?
A: We will shoot on weekends in mid to late May through June. Winners will be notified of specific dates in May.

Q: Is there a fee to submit entries?
A: No. Parks are free and so is this contest.

Q: Will I get paid to appear in the videos?
A: No. Participation in My Park, My Story is voluntary. If your story is chosen, you will be asked to sign a waiver before your shoot.

Q: Where will the videos air?
A: Here on our website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
