BCRP Drone Academy

Baltimore City Recreation and Parks Drone Academy

BCRP Drone Academy

Did someone say drones? Yes, it’s true we are bringing drones–unmanned aerial vehicles– to our recreation centers! We are excited to expand opportunities and provide STEM enrichment (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) to Baltimore’s youth. Thanks to our partnership with Baltimore based Global Air Media, we have a Drone Academy, which features introductory lessons to drones and their emerging real-world applications in industries such as construction, agriculture, and film/photography.The program will include kits with a complete frame, propellers, battery, circuit board, propeller guards, rubber landing feet, screws, LED lights, batteries, transmitter, and motor.

What will participants learn at the BCRP Drone Academy?

  • Flight tutorials and basic introduction into coding/programming

  • Introduction to drone safety and current regulations

  • The past, present, and future of the drone industry

  • The commercial applications of drone, used to create an entrepreneur’s mindset

  • Drone flight control, accuracy, and racing challenges

  • Hands-on building lessons, so you can design and fly your own drone
