Shoebox parades are big celebrations on a small scale! Residents from across Baltimore can submit their handmade mini float to capture the spirit of Baltimore and Black History in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021.

Submissions
Float submissions are now closed.
Submissions and registration can be dropped off at 3001 East Dr, Baltimore MD 21217. As a reminder, Shoebox floats will not be returned, so please do not include items of high monetary or personal value.
Rules and Regulations
All shoebox floats are due by January 11, 4:30 pm, and must be registered. The parade will be screened on January 18 at noon on BCRP's Facebook page.
- Community parade entries are FREE.
- Your float can be made from a traditional cardboard shoebox or similar structure (be creative). The only restriction is that it should be no larger than 9" x 13" and limited only by your imagination.
- Decorations on the box should not exceed 15" tall.
- Please, no electronics, food items, hazardous chemicals, or combustibles.
- Your float doesn't have to fit the theme suggestions but should be related to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History, and Baltimore City in some way. Be creative and have fun!
- Entries and themes must be appropriate for a family audience. Entries should contain no political statement, slogan or reference. Use of any political material is not permitted.
- All submissions must be received by 4:30 pm on Monday, January 11, 2020.
- Registration for the BCRP Martin Luther King Jr. Day Shoebox Parade and/or tagging @recnparks #BmoreShoeboxParade with related photos or videos on social media grants Baltimore City Recreation and Parks permission to use your images and footage on any platform.
- Baltimore City Recreation and Parks reserve the right to exclude any submissions that do not meet our guidelines or that feature content not aligned with our mission.
- Shoebox floats will not be returned, so please do not include items of high monetary or personal value.
